Unlike many courses, Elkview’s greens have all different slope features , not just back to front. The 5th green rolls away from the golfer requiring an exacting approach shot to hold the putting surface. The tee shot is struck over a rise to a fairway sloping down to the green generally leaving the golfer a downhill lie with a medium iron thus making the 2nd shot that much more difficult to hold. Out of bounds right and heavy rough left make the tee ball that much more challenging with the out of bounds just 10 yards to the right of the green causing a pushed or sliced shot to be struck again with penalty. A front right pin placement lures the golfer to be aggressive and most will pay the price for a mishit shot.
